I need some advice from the Vodacom Fundi's here. My Wife's phone is on a corporate account and the contract has run out, and she's now on a month-to-month contract. She do not want to commit to another 24 month contract at this time (she's unsure about het future at the co) but she'd like to retain her number. The problem is that the contract that she's stuck on is a Talk 130 which gives you 130min talktime, 0 sms's and 0 data for R315. There are far beter deals available than that.

Is it possible to "downgrade" without commiting to another 24 months , or does she rather terminate and convert to pay as you go?

You'll be stuck in another contract if you downgrade, so your only option would be Pay-as-you-go.

Unless Vodacom have finally woken up and started offering month-to-month contracts in which case it will be possible, but I think only CellC do that.

But if it's on a corporate account surely she isn't paying for it?

She gets a set amount (R300) and if the account exceeds her allowance it comes off her salary, on a Talk 130 there is no data or sms's and the base contract aready exceeds R300.
