Do these numbnuts know that if this stuff doesn't get built (and its a bloody nice inconspicuous building that blends into the environment nicely) then Entilini will be able to sue the WC Government for breach of contract (at least) or get the contract reverted to what it was under the ANC Government which gave them 2 toll booths on either end of the road and a MUCH bigger building on Chapmans peak.

Let me jump into this one..

The ANC and SANRAL are not wrong... legally the deal is done and must be paid for, its who pays for it thats at stake in the GFIP stuff..

In this case, it will be the residents of the WC who will pay should this not go ahead...

And that is ultimately the problem..

The protestors are getting the news time, and they're blowing everything WAY out of proportion.. the wind gets taken out of their sails when the reality is actually presented.

I personally think the proposed buildings are blood nice, very respectful to the environment and much better than the shack that is used atm (which is the one in the inset as you noticed). This building will be built in the quarry that is on Chapmans Peak already.. so they will not be destroying flora to build this either.

Looking at the renders I don't see what the fuss is about, I was expecting to see one of those Camps Bay mansions squashing dassies on the side of the mountain.

EDIT: Agree on the looks, makes the booth look like the gatehouse at a larney housing estate.

Cancellation costs

Construction company Murray and Roberts, a senior partner in concessionaire Entilini, might also be tempted to bow out of the deal.

"There is a good risk that their patience may run out and that they may cancel this agreement on the basis that interim relief was granted," he said.

Such a cancellation would cost the province in the region of R141m.

Judge Bennie Griesel is expected to hand down judgment in two to three weeks.
