Charge for a Contest

Hey Guys

So times are tough and money is especially tight right now, I was thinking of ways to generate some income but wasnt sure about the legal side.

Does anyone know the legalities around charging an entrance fee for a contest with prizes?

From what I have been googling , I cant seem to find any specifics with regards to this, just that it seems to fall under the CPA since 2011.

Technically not a raffle as the winner wont be chosen at random, I did read up on raffles.

Otherwise if entries don't pay for the prize, it's a lottery and is illegal (there are exemptions for non profits and stuff, pretty sure you don't qualify).

Basically host a tournament that people join, winner gets a prize.
