I do not consider merely having an opinion on politics as doing something, by the way.

I am political. Ive met with MPs from the ID in parliament on issues important to me, as well as having met with ICASA heads on issues import to me.

Ok.

That does not make you involved in politics. It makes you a concerned citizen. "Involved in politics" is an entirely different animal.

By the way, more gets done (and it gets done more efficiently!) from the outside than from the inside. We run our clients' CSI projects and it has made a bigger difference in people's lives than the local government of the area in which we are active.

I am seriously surprised that Julian Assange is still alive.

Why? You attribute too much power to establishment structures. The only thing they have going for them is manpower, money and information (intelligence). Assange travels light, has no possessions (houses, etc) which can be threatened via the IRS and does not remain for long in one place. The WikiLeaks organisation can supply money and, together with sympathisers, can supply shelter and refuge if needed. What he is doing is ostensibly illegal so he can’t be threatened by the law. Establishment structures are totally outclassed and all that is left is scaremongering rhetoric and choleric posturing.

Bare in mind if they take him down more replace him. You need to kill the source. It is like arresting thousands of drugs users but never actually getting to the dealers.

If anything killing him will mean he was onto something and thousands will want his spot in the limelight even if it might mean death. The only way is to discredit him or let it be.
