Ooooh, god forbid a country actually votes in a referendum.

Damn those anti-democratic South American states! How dare they!?

the only way south american states resemble Africa - is because they were also arbitrarily carved up by colonial invaders, who governed them and treated their inhabitants like slaves.

Chavez is doing good work for the people of Venezuela.

And (I refer you to michael moore's 'Sicko') - I'd rather be in Cuba if I had a medical problem to be treated, than the supposedly 'free' US - where its a one-way ticket to heavy debt, bankruptcy, and homelessness.

In future, try linking to a news source that isn't a Neocon right-wing PR exercise, like Fox is.

This pretty much shows where the politics lie, of the user known as 'Alan.'

No freedom, no democracy, no cell phones or PCs until last year for individuals..... Yeah great place that's why you and 100 000s of Cubans are currently in America and not Cuba

I have some family in the medical proffesion who've had to deal with cuban doctors and believe me you'd rather not go there.
I've heard about the horrors of the overly expensive american healthcare system but I've heard some real horrer stories about what cuban doctors get up to as well.

He might be doing good work on the social front but i think he is gonna make it worse retaining the reigns. I don't get these okes, on the one hand they have very valid points and their improvements in social reform is in many ways better than the typical western way of doing things.. BUT corruption in such a system always seem to affect it worse and dictators soon take over.

Hey krycor I'm impressed

They only help the poor in so far as it gets them in power. Once they solidified their position of power the first people who go under their boot is the poor.
