Cheap 2TB flash drive from Wish tested

Would love to see a followup article on this, where they try and return it for a credit.

Not really.......I ordered and got my stuff within 21 days.
 
I have received quite a few refunds, IF, you submit within 30 days of delivery date. I tend to buy all my consumables for my hobby off wish. Dirt cheap and you get loads.
 
Very bad because it's actually more expensive than actual say 16GB flash drives. At least if they made the actual storage 64GB it would have been worth something but now it's just useless.
 
And so along came a guy at work who backed up a whole lot of his stuff to a super huge flashdrive he got at Wish.....and then promptly deleted it from his work computer where he hoarded it. Came to me the next day said he wanted to copy it to his home computer but almost all the stuff is not there. Call me cruel but I told him its most probably gone then as a recovery would have sat squarely on my shoulders most likely

So 99% of the time......:P If it was a bidorbuy seller with 99% I would still avoid them. Because you actually got what you ordered doesn't make it any less a scam website, and as long as stupid youtubers order from wish, to show much they got scammed the longer they will stay in business.....

Depends on the drive. Wear levelling will have the drive report as write protected as there are no more free cells available. Many flash drives however don't have that and it's likely the case with these cheapies so anything can happen. Most likely it will appear as being written but because the sectors are out of bounds it will be ignored, or with a really bad implementation it will ignore the "extra" address space and rewrite over existing data.

That's how scammers work. Giving you less than what you pay for and not what you paid for. The biggest concern though is that it's not partitioned as 16GB and correcting it will most probably involve special software so your average user will probably use it for years before noticing something is amiss.
 
Another scam in this vein is these cheap Chinese TV boxes.

I still see it being sold everywhere even on Takealot.

From close where most import their products. Wish, however, has piss poor merchant quality assurance.

Amazon also has dodgy merchants, but the quality control is a bar not within Wish's reach, but then again, this is Wish's market strategy, to enable as many merchants as possible to expand their product catalogue.

A bad product doesn't mean it is a Chinese product, but people have made that correlation because China is 'cheap', though their most premium product is also, possibly, made in China.

In the US, they import "Global Components" /cough China parts or partly assembled, and then complete assemble it in the USA, hence made in the USA with Global Components, it all depends, but the world relies on East Asia.
