Hi
So my brother recently moved to Rain, he's using a B315 router and I feel like his speeds could be better. The problem is he doesn't think +R1500 on an antenna is a smart thing since he already has internet that works.
I was thinking of getting him a cheap antenna first that could show him that there's room for improvement before he commits to something more expensive.
Anyone know any Mikrotik or something similar around the R600 range.
Saw a MikroTik mANT LTE 5dBi omni Antenna but not sure about it.

Don't waste your money on cheap crap. Get a proper LTE antenna at Poynting - https://poynting.tech/

Post your signal stats. If the signal is already decent, an antenna will not improve speeds and would be a waste of time. Good signal and poor speeds indicates a problem with the ISP which is not uncommon for Rain.

Just saw your reply right now. Busy week. Will upload network stats first thing tomorrow morning when I get them from him.

Personally I wouldn't bother, most places the towers are over utilised. When I was having problems with my Rain speeds, a technician called me an checked my towers. Rather do something similar before potentially wasting money on an antenna

One of the of the problems I'm facing is that during the day the speeds drop a little and the router keeps connecting to a different 2500mhz tower with lower prefer speeds. I keep having to switch from B41 to B3 and back to B41 again to connect to the best tower. A process I have to do multiple times throughout the day.

An antenna is not going to help much with your router connecting to other towers (unless it is very directional). Your router needs to support LTE locking.

Your signal is pretty good (and so is that 30mbps downstream speed).

Rain LTE internet speed does vary a lot and gets very slow during daytime hours... So quite possibly this is your issue.

Damm.. I guess I lucked out. At least the connection is solid and can stream up to 4k.

I can get up to 45mbps at like 4am. It goes to a few mbps in the daytime. Just Rain things.
