Heard about this on 702 tech talk this afternoon and was wondering if anyone has used the service yet and been able to actually check the call cost?

I tried it out and it seemed to work pretty well on a call to New Zealand.

How long before Telscum and Ivy ban it??

CheapCalls

I am using Jajah for more than a year already.

It works very good and It cost me to call Europe (Holland) about 52c/minute.

Before February the landline to landline calls between Jajah users was actually free and I was only required to make a billable call every 2 weeks. This happened even with them at the time indicating that it was only for users in Zone 1 and 2. South Africa is in Zone 3.

I am also using the Jajah mobile services running on my SE P990i on MTN. I request the call to europe and the next second my phone rings and I am connected to my brothers at less than half of what MTN would have charged.

The only problem with Jajah is the way to prepay for calls. South African credit cards are not accepted and I had to ask my brother in Holland to transfer money on my behalf to their account. If I had to do this through ABSA, the swift costs would have increased the real cost and reduce the benefit. On my last visit I gave my brother the money and now just request him to transfer at zero cost.

With the ability to specify the home number, office number and cell I am using this facility also to call from the office without adding a cent to my employer.
