hi all i wonder if you can help me please. my dad is looking for a cheap laptop with a built in webcam, speakers and mic and wifi to use with skype. we are both not technologically minded, so i dont even know what to look for to help him out, thats why i thought i would approach all of you.

thanks.

well i would suggest a sahara laptop

buy a sep webcam and get speakers

to get a laptop with all that is expensive and not cheap

thanks i thought as much i will let him know. i got myself a compaq laptop for R500, built in speakers with internet and wireless link and i had a camera/webcam and it work but it was a dial-up thingy but it worked for what i wanted it for,but i know thats not for him.

R500 or R5000 or when was this?

R500 no jokes ok it was second hand and had no battery but i dont carry it around so the cable worked perfec, hey i was even on PRE-PAID internet. i have it for a year already.

I see. Ok. If you want something new with all those features built in, then, as Killa said, it is not going to be that cheap...Better to buy an entry level one and add on the webcam and speakers and such.

I take it battery life is not an important factor then? Not going to be running it off batteries much? I ask because the cheaper laptops have horrible battery lives, like less than an hour...

i can only guess my old man wants all those features so when he goes to the bush for holidays and weekends he can still keep in touch with friends and family but i have forwarded your guys recomendations to him. i wanna try get some more laptops hopefully in the new year cause they just for messing about on.

who knows hey maybe thats why he wants wifi, maybe you can tell me how it would or would not work.

bwana thats a very intersting site as my daughter (10) wants a pc like that from the states when she goes over next week, i must just find the price now, ha ha, thanks
