Good day

Any idea why these Longi 555W solar panels are so cheap?

About right, its around R3.65+vat a watt. Not "so cheap".

Panel prices have decreased a lot since supplies were low in the beginning of the year. Around March, 540/550W JA Solar or Canadian panels were selling for R 4000 to R 4500. Now they can be had for R 2500 if you shop around.
R 2000 for Longis are thus not that crazy cheap.

Watch out for fake panels hitting the market. Apparently it's becoming big business.
In this case, its Leroy Merlin, not FB Marketplace, and its sold by Leroy Merlin, not their marketplace either, so I would say legit.

Again, pricing is on par with what I would expect, its not that questionable.

Any feedback? Currently restocking, and a still at price that is a no-brainer. Looking around I am not really finding those R2500 pricepoint panels easily either, so this price is having me wondering. Panels have been marked up over 40% in the supply chain all this while?

My panels arrived yesterday, ordered last week Monday!
Serial number checks out on Longi website.

That special on the Longis are no doubt a good deal. As an example of what else is available at the R 2500 price point,
550W JA Solar @ R 2435 @ Herholdts.
So for a 10 panel array you're saving +- R 5k by going for the Longis.

"Not available in store. This is a 3rd party product and is not available in store." - although it is not marked as a marketplace seller, unlike some other items. LM in the parent link possibly needs updating, as the parent link marks it as R2899 and when you click is is R1999.

LM acting in good faith, possible bait and switch by the 3rd party? - both of whom I apologise to for my suspicion, it does exist though.

Proof is in the output. I'd be impressed if the Longi panel gets close to it's advertised wattage, in full sun, and how efficient it is when it is overcast.

I’ve got Longi panels and they run along beautifully. I’ve nothing to compare with regarding cloudy days or how to work out just how they should perform and how cloudy is one day compared to the next, but I hit full output or thereabout with no problems on a sunny day.

10x Longi LR6-60PB-300M from "sunny" Netherlands for comparison.
