Hi Guys,

I need to know if there is a cheaper way to speak longer on the phone?
Calls to the girlfriend is coming into the thousands now.
She has a blackberry 9320 so whatsapp and bbm calls cant be done.
Besides buying her a phone that supports this, has anyone found a cheaper way to make calls?
We speak for roughly 3 hours a day.
Im on MTN and she is on Cell C, we are prepared to buy different sim cards as well.
Thanks Guys.

You answered your own question.
If you spending 1000s a month on the phone, just buy her a cheap Android phone

Still i think telkom mobile is the cheapest of the lot, this is the current prepaid

SIM-SONKE is South Africa’s best prepaid package – no matter which way you look at it, it’s the best value for your money.
29c per SMS, MMS or MB of data
Recharge with R5 to R19 and get 1 night of unlimited calls to Telkom Mobile number (7pm – 7am)
29c per minute on calls to Telkom mobile numbers (billed per second)
75c per minute on calls to other SA mobile and landline networks (billed per second)
Pay R20 and get 7 nights of unlimited calls to Telkom mobile numbers
Pay R5 and get 1 day of unlimited calls to Telkom mobile number
Recharge with R20 and up and get 7 nights of unlimited calls to Telkom mobile numbers (7pm – 7am)

so for R20 rand recharge you get 7 nights of unlimted calls, not bad i'd say

MTN to MTN has a bundle you can buy. R2 for 10 mins of talk time. but that seems to little for OP,

I think the Telkom is best bet but doesnt that only apply for the first 12 months of a contract?

I saw this with MTN, any idea if this is any good?

Long conversations are here to stay.
Remember back when there was no internet and social networking? When conversations were easy and lasted forever? When you picked up the phone and had endless conversations? Not the days of abbreviated text or emoticons, but when you could hear the laughter and excitement in someone’s voice, and you told the whole story and not just bits and pieces.

If you have neotel coverage, neotel to neotel calls are free after 7pm. You just have to buy the handset, and on prepaid you not going spend much of any airtime you purchase. Check it out.

If you're spending hours a day on the phone why don't you move in together? Then you'll probably only speak to her for 10 mins a day and the rent will be cheaper than your cellphone calls.
