I'm looking for an affordable office setup, 1 desktop PC + screen, wireless router, windows OS, and network backup (HDD file sharing over the router is sufficient).

I've gotten quotes from some companies, but the think I'm retarded and overcharge me. For a standard office desktop (i3 or i5, 8gb ram, 1TB HDD, onboard GPU) they quote me R10000. I find the same PC on PriceCheck for R5000.

Can someone suggest an online-based computer re-seller that is affordable and reliable. I'm in Pretoria.

Price depends on what you want to do with the PC and if you want high quality parts. I recommend you buy your monitor, Windows and accessories separately from places like Takealot and Loot as they do some great specials daily and weekly.

It's for office use. Performance is not really an issue. The problem with pricecheck is that you have to buy the entire setup from different suppliers. I want one supplier and one delivery.

Depends on if its old stock or new stock. Old stock will be cheaper.
You also might want to check out a laptop option as they tend to be cheaper than a tower + monitor.

Chances are also that he quoted on the pro version of windows in case you need to downgrade, this does push the price up from your home/SL/EM versions

Have you looked at refurbished PC's? On a budget for normal office use it will be your best bet. Then just buy a decent router and external storage for your backups / sharing.

If you're on a tight budget, chat to http://xperien.com/ - speak to Alvin - they had i3's and i5's with monitors for about 4k, maybe a bit more if you need 8gigs of ram.

All branded systems (dell, lenovo etc) and come with a 12month warranty with windows OS (win7)

I've been buying from them for years now, great service. Our sales guys tend to destroy IT hardware, so i dont even bother buying high end systems. R1500 to R2500 is about all i'll spend on their workstations.

buy this Asus router
http://www.takealot.com/asus-dsl-n14u-wireless-adsl-router/PLID38535024

It has a USB port - plug in an external or flash stick and you have your network storate sorted out.
