Cheap phone with decent GPS?

I don't want to take my main phone when I go for a run and want to track my route. My Garmin band doesn't have a GPS, so I'm thinking of buying a cheap phone to track my route rather than upgrade to a GPS watch.
Thoughts?

Buy a 2nd hand Garmin or even a new forerunner 55.
You get HR tracking along with the GPS, most of them can stream music to bluetooth headphones and they do a much better job than a phone can.

My night guard carries a LittleLogbookGo. They about R1000. Basically a usb stick with GPS. Records your route, speeds, stops,.... I use it to see where he patrolled the farm at night.
