Hi all, I'm looking for the cheapest way to buy rice. At supermarkets you can sometimes get a good deal but I'm sure buying bulk must be cheaper.
Anyone know good sources in JHB?

Go for the Spekko brand. They make an amazing jasmine rice that I cant seem to find anymore. We don't eat white rice any longer, but if that's what you're looking for, then try it.

Basmati is nice and contains less arsenic.

Try not to eat too much of it.

brown rice and parboiled white rice contain the highest amounts of arsenic.

The "nasty" white rice is the healthiest; at least from the arsenic point of view

and yes: Basmati is by far the best rice.

Not by any stretch. Korean sticky rice is so good you can eat it on its own. Then there's the gorgeous Italian rices - Arborio and Risotto being the most well known. Thin fluffy Basmati is amazing especially in a curry, but they all have their place.
