I am looking for a cheap(ish) SIP phone to go with my SIP account at my ISP.

When I googled "sip phone" it brought up the Bell Air 01. I can't find a website for it, and the only specs I found say it's "switchboard compatible". What does that mean?

Any other suggestions for a reasonably priced SIP phone?

Quite sure that isn't a VoiP phone. When I googled it, its a plain cordless DECT phone.

Look for a Yealink phone. They work great.

Yealink does cabled only and also cabled base with wifi phone.
First option is cheaper obviously.

Rubbish. I use Yealink cordless phones.

But yes, it's not the cheapest around.
LoL

They do have 2 options. The one looks like a telkom phone that plugs into your router, costs under R1k. Then you get the cordless one where the base connects to your router and you have a cordless phone that must be connected to its base for charging and obviously has to be in range of the base to talk.

The other option is to install a software SIP Client on your mobile phone and connect over Wifi.

I've done that and I wasn't impressed with the quality, but maybe it's my phone or the software I am using? (Zoiper).

So it seems that the entry level price ranges between R600 and R1000 for a handset.

Would be nice to have something to replace my copper line, but I'm just worried about what happens when the power goes out. (Although with the theft of batteries at our exchange, a landline doesn't seem to help much either).

Should be no issues with quality... The device is a phone after all! Wifi or internet issues?
