Hi there, can anyone recommend any good surround sound home theatre kit for a guy on a tight budget? I started playing Dead Space with I really dont want to waste the experience on normal stereo.

What console are you playing it on? AFAIK you need a system with optical in for proper surround sound on the Xbox.

... and you'll find the HDMI AND optical don't fit in simultaniously on the Xbox- how dumb, eh? ;)

get the logitech z5500 - but they are not cheap, best gaming sound you can get.

Eish ya ill definitely look into those once i start working though, i heard the logitec speakers can hold their own against systems ten fold their own price, any truth to that?

A semi entry level Samsung/Sony home theatre system (Dvd player/built in amp & 5.1 speakers) will do.

I got Z-2300 the other day and they're awesome for R1600.00!

But - um - keeping up performance wise with speakers worth R16,000.00? Haven't a hope ever :P

Dont know if you play on a lcd or what, but these is a special at makro for a sinotec soundbar for R1199, and that fits very nicely with your lcd tv

You should be able to find some good systems at Hifi corp, a decentish 5.1 will be about R1500+.
Logitec, will probably be the cheaper and is 360 compatible.

how much is slightly cheaper? lol i called all big chain stores except game when i was looking for this :o:(

the difference in price isn't bad but at least i wouldn't have had to wait for it. oh well...

I bought one of those LG sets this weekend.

Using it for my Xbox and also want to connect it to my pc for watching movies. My Xbox is connect via HDMI to my tv. From the tv I connect the AV receiver with an optical cable. I'm only getting stereo though. Will I have to get another cable for the Xbox so that I can connect the sound directly to the receiver instead of via the tv?

I also connected the pc via optical to the receiver. Also only getting stereo. Something I'm doing wrong?

Hows the sound qaulity? Power, Clarity etc........ compared to other systems in same range eg. Sony.

Gonna be playing in my flat....
