Cheap Tyres Recommendations or Pitfalls

Hey Guys

I currently have a 2019 Tiguan and although I only have 55 000km on the clock the tyres are 7 years old and have some smooth spots so its 50/50 if they are roadworthy. I will be selling the car in the next year or two so don't want to buy performance tyres but looking for the best bang for buck or atleast a solid entry - mid range tyres. I only do about 5000-7000km a year so just need acceptable tyres anyone have recommendations or tried Hilo Sport or Sailun Atrezzo ? Are there any real pitfalls when going for cheaper tyres ?

Start with what your car calls for. Others have pointed out the size differences, but that list also has tyres with different load and speed ratings. What tyre size, load and speed rating does VW say that you need?

Good point will contact VW tomorrow and just ask for their opinion, the guy who serviced my car was actually also helpful and helped recommend a few places I could get breaks and wiper blades for at a reasonable price...

I have linglong fong kong on my geely pretty good.

I put encore on my Merc excellent tyres. The chinese tyres are perfectly fine in my opinion.

At 120 you'd be doing 122.2kmh.

It's a 1.83% change in diameter, you're fine under 2%. The consensus is that even up to 3% is okay.

I've learnt to ignore my speedo. GPS on Waze is far more accurate

Check your car's manual. It should have the approved tyres listed there. The basic rule is to use the size listed, and load and speed ratings which are equal or higher than the required ones.
