Well to be honest I love the hardware. Both my Xperia Play and Xperia S phones are great in fact I wish sony would make a Tergra 3 based Xperia Play. They can keep it at 4" or if they really want to make it 4.6 I do not mind as I use it mostly for Android games on the move. The play has a nice feel to it and gives me hours of entertainment.

Their software department on the other hand is the worst support of all the brands out. Don't get me wrong, it works great and does what needs to be done for a smartphone but do not expect any updates... like in ever.

I already got burned on the X10... Best hardware of its time, but already behind an OSCAR version on release and took ages to update. Sony can sick my duck.
