Cheap way to prevent battery drain?

How does it work remotely?
It connects to the output of the inverter and it's connected to the your home internet.

You get an app for it. I think I used to get power off alerts but I am not sure if I only saw it on the logs, so you can rely on your loadshedding schedule or if it does send alert you can use that to manage it from wherever you are.

I have to add my router also has a backup battery so my internet does not go down with the inverter.
 
If you already have home assistant server, or have a machine you can load home assistant on, then you can put a Sonnof POW on the output of the inverter, and get an ESP 8266 running ESP Home using it's analogue pin with a voltage divider to read the battery voltage.
All that goes into home assistant and an automation on home assistant kills the output on the Sonnof POW when battery voltage drops below your specified voltage. Inverter remains on with no load, so charging resumes when Eksdom comes back online, at which point another automation turns the POW back on.

It's sounds complicated, but it really isn't.

Edit: My mind was stuck on a Sonnof POW cause that's what i use, but you don't need power monitoring on the output just a switch to kill the output, so you can cut costs further by using a Sonnof Basic instead.

Maybe with the victron thing you can go in the phone app and just turn it back on?

We have been down this road before with this device but no one has every actually taken one for the team and tried it.
I am keen to pull the trigger, the ~R700 might sound like a lot, but I think it will help me in the long run to protect my batteries for the 6-9 months I need to save money. I also feel that it is something I could sell to a friend, (as I don't think it works with Lithium batteries).

I just need to get a friend of mine who is an electrician to have a look at the diagram as there are a lot of warnings on what not to do and how to connect it properly for an inverter.

... I will start a new thread if I go down that route to give my feedback.

What I am certain of now is that you will need something to push the voltage up so that it can switch back on.

But I guess you can always move the cutoff threshold to turn it back on, like if it was set to switch off at 12.4V you can change it to 12.2V and it should turn back on. If it has an app this can be easily done.

One thing I have never liked about Victron things is how unnecessarily complicated they are, almost every victron thing needs another victron thing to work, it was a massive money making scheme.

At least it has Bluetooth afaik.
 
Project farm on YouTube did a series of tests on how to revive a battery using a welder, maybe can help.
