Gee, how is that even feasable, I am paying R150 per month for less than that for a bunch of web sites for practising web building. There must be a catch.
To be really honest there is no catch other hosting companies have employees that run the system and I’m just one person the owner that developed the system to work automatically and with me sales forecast I’m sure that the price I have on my site is feasible for my business if I have the right amount of clients

You can give it a shot I promise I won’t disappoint you

Dude what are you doing. Your pricing is unsustainable for anything resembling an acceptable hosting environment.

Let's do some maths for a single server:
  • $640 for a 24-core Linode shared server with 128GB memory, 2.5TB storage & 20TB traffic (You mentioned using Linode, and that's a good value level to minimise panel costs).
  • $45 for WHMCS
  • $29 for DirectAdmin
  • Let's assume nothing else in the way of security or caching.
That's $714 / ±R11,000 per month. To what degree would you have to oversell such a server at R5-55 pm per site to turn a profit?

That's not exactly a selling point.

i have free access to lifetime for Directadmin and whmcs so i thought of starting up a small business so i invested some money into a VPS so i could run my webhosting business so i thought if i offer really cheap web hosting packages so that i could help those who are paying way to much for just hosting a simple website

Your math's is correct and obviously my pricing wont work out best.

so asking a favor what would me the best thing to do?

my dream is to start up a webhosting company and design websites since I'm really good at it.

it would my of great appreciation if you could guide me or advise me to make my business feasible for me and for new clients

Thank You

You've already started one as far as I can see. What you haven't started is a profitable webhosting company.

The best thing to do is create a detailed business plan. Google and YouTube is your friend.

I dont mean to be a party pooper at all, but after reading your comment about Lifetime access to directadmin and whmcs licenses it made me wonder...

So I ran a license check against your domain on the WHMCS license portal and according to WHMCS you dont have a license. Are you using a nulled version of whmcs?

Attached are screenshots showing your "lifetime" license vs our owned license

Perhaps a better model to bootstrap your business would be to design websites and offer the option to host and support them on retainer basis via an established reseller or cloud provider of your choice.

Being cheapest and trying to undercut the competition usually isn't a great basis for a business - you tend to devalue the whole offering, earn less to re-invest in your business and although a low cost is often very persuasive, it's really the weakest means to sell your products or services IMHO. Unless you have a real advantage that allows you to offer lower prices, it will usually come home to roost one way or another.

Focus rather on value. Where you can deliver the value, you can charge at the value to the customer rather than the cost to provide the service.

All I can say is that it's a long journey. I'm a few years in and nowhere close to anything that resembles a summit. The more you learn, the more you realise you still need to learn or will never have the time to learn.
  • Get your email on your domain
  • Web design is a totally separate profession from web development, and is related to graphic design. Deliverables are generally in Figma, XD or Photoshop formats. Web designs do not need hosting.
  • It takes years to build up enough hosted clients to turn a decent passive income. Just focus on keeping costs down for now, and certainly don't go self-managed if cash flow is a primary concern.
  • Reseller hosting from Absolute Hosting or Domains would hugely reduce your costs and risks, until you have the money and expertise to invest in a serious self-managed hosting environment.
  • Do online courses. Lots of them. It's good to be confident, but more than likely you have a mountain of skills to learn if you're approaching web hosting in this manner and using the term 'web design' synonymously with web development.
Best of luck man.
