Hi there rainbow nationers,

Are there any cool specials running at the moment for an el cheapo? It should still be new and come with a warranty though, preferably bundled with win7/8. What is the lowest we can go?

R4800 - Toshiba Core i3 with 4GB RAM, Windows 8 @ CNA.

The display is exceptional for such a cheap laptop.

Incredible connection always has good specials... I got my Lenevo for R2999 and its still going strong :) Could last me another few years

Thanks for the help peeps!

NomNom and kingrob, I am looking for something cheaper than these deals - something like zizo911 managed to get his hands on! I'm not too stressed about having a hectic display. A laptop for less than 3.5K would be ideal.

Maybe this: http://www.laptopdirect.co.za/Gigabyte-Q2006BARE3-lp-86878.php

It will be quite a bit slower than the i3 listed above. Especially with some large Excel sheets.

I would highly recommend you stay away from this, I've got one and it's incredibly slow.

I got mine for R2800, about 2 years ago, rather pay extra for the ones above, they would be much much better.

Update: Looking around again, things have certainly gotten much more expensive since last I checked, maybe you will just have to bite the bullet and get the Q2006. So yeah if you have lots of patience then the Q2006 should be good.

I've tried putting Windows XP on it, but have never come right, you get pretty much every error thrown at you, I eventually hit a brick wall with drivers that get installed during setup and couldn't figure out how to fix it, Windows XP would be fantastic on this Netbook, would be much faster.
