Cheaper Xbox One launching in 2014: report

They haven't even launched the existing one in most countries, and they're already looking at launching a cheaper version :D

Anyway this should have been the plan from the start. Did they really think that pricing it at 20% more expensive than your competitor, while forcing you into buying what should be an optional accessory in the form of the Kinect, was a good idea?

For which the Kinect reviews are any indication, is a load of junk as well.
Check out AngryJoe's review of that fighting game that uses the Kinect.
 
The only logical reason I can see for the diskless XB1 is to squeeze Sony's margins and force people into digital downloads. No blu ray player = no royalties to Sony. If MS want this version to be a success they need digital game downloads to be around $50 and have steam like sales
 
A disc-less unit would be an epic fail IMO. Especially given how the digital versions are often the same price, sometimes more, than the physical version.

More importantly, it is likely to piss a lot of people off for 2 reasons:
1) It would eliminate the second-hand sale of the game, so people who are into that will get nothing back in return.
2) People with slow internet connections and/or data caps cannot afford to download 30GB+ games.

Virtually everyone who has been calling for a cheaper Xbox would rather see the Kinect go than the disc drive.

First problem would be solved by Steam sales, second well they shouldn't buy it. If you don't want Kinect, get a PS4.
