Telkom is R299.00 at the moment
Axess is R275 and have a control panel to manage the line.
Isat is R249.00, don't know if they are any good?
Anyone know which ISP provide the cheapest ADSL line Rental with good support except Telkom?

If you move away from Telkom, you WILL regret it in the long run :(

Yes, it better to stay with Telkom but their combo deal is now R585, whereas previously it was R100 cheaper before all the upgrades and price increases. If there are no better alternatives I'll rather stay.

Line rental is the same on every ISP, its the account that differs in price.

Curious I am. What prompts this statement?

Yes, me too! I have been thinking of moving from Telkom as my ISP to WebAfrica and moving my ADSL line over to them as well. Why is this not recommended?

I prefer dealing directly with Telkom. For me its a lot easier to just jump between ISP's than move your line each time. If you read around the forum you'll find posts where users seem to have issues with upgrading because their ISP's wholesale system has not been updated. From what I gather some people even have to move their line back to Telkom in order to get the upgrade. I might be wrong, but that seems like the general issue around this topic.

Wait till you want to move to another ISP and need to cancel the line with the current ISP (other than Telkom) and see the hassels you have.
Just read through the forums and you'll find many complaints of very dissatisfied people.
For the sake of saving R30 odd on average, it is just not worth it.

On the negative to taking you line with telkom, you sometimes end up with an issue which neither telkom or the ISP want to take responsibility for. Telkom say your ISP is at fault, your ISP says its telkoms fault and you stuck in the middle.
