Cheapest 8GB Ram laptop?

Hi all,

I did not want to hijack the other thread but does anyone know of any specials on laptops with 8gb of ram? Does not have to be a special, I mean cheap

Will be used as a DEV machine. Must have on-site warranty.

If it ships with 8GB of RAM out the box it's going to be high end laptop and probably well over R10k. Just get a cheaper laptop and add your own RAM.

I have a Dell Vostro 3550 at work which came with 4GB ram, just added another 4GB. I am sure that is cheaper.

The others are out of stock, unfortunately the models on the site only support up to 6GB of ram.

Thanks for the advice guys. I like that Lenovo IdeaPad as my current laptop is a Lenovo. The thing is, last time there was an issue, I had to take it to Jet Park which was a pain because of there business hours and then go there and retrieve it. Good device but crappy support so that is out of the question.

Maybe I should rather ask who has the best support? I am in Roodepoort.

I don't mind upgrading ram if I can spec it before hand.

Yeah agreed, get a cheaper laptop with specs you are happy with then make sure if can take up to 8GB of ram then buy it separately then upgrade it yourself. Works out cheaper that way.

But how I will know what is the max ram the laptop can take? Do I have to find out what the motherboard is and then check what that motherboard supports?

It normally just says in the specs of the laptop.

It will be in the specs which is always available on the manufacturers site.
