Hi all,

Look to buy a new car. I currently drive a Yaris T3 Plus Auto. My first option was to get another Yaris. It's just a decent tiny city car that works in JHB. Enough power, great fuel economy, plenty of dealerships, cheap insurance, etc. Mine is also the plus model so it has a lot of nice extra gadgets. My only problem with my car is the awful 4 spd auto gearbox. It's probably the worst auto box ever made.

The new Yaris has ditched the old school auto for a CVT. I drove the new Honda Ballade CVT and it was quite good. Smooth, no problems at all. I image the Toyota Yaris to be the same. Obviously then, my first choice would have been the new Yaris. Except, it does not have an electronic stability program. This from a new model that is higher than the budget vehicles(Etios) from Toyota is disappointing to say the least.

Now I'm a strong believer in ESP,ESC or DSC or whatever they call it. I've experienced it in other vehicles and I know the technology works. My new car must have this and it must have a smooth auto.

So with those two requirements, what is the cheapest:D new car I can get?

TIA

New Jazz does look like the best option so far @ R220k. Budget is very negotiable. I don't want to go past R300k.
The thing is, I'm single with no children. So, I don't need a family car. Just a city run about. Sometimes I get the urge to just buy a 2 year old Porsche Cayman but I like having extra cash around to do other stuff.

In that case, I'd seriously look at the Polo TSI Highline DSG. R250k-ish.

The new Polo's have seriously upped their game. They look stunning inside and out. I also hear good things about the new (tiny) engines.

Thanks. I see you can get LED headlights for R11k. Not bad. Need to get a test drive.
