Cheapest smartphone contracts in SA

Damn.....why is Vodacom so flippin expensive?? i'm due for an upgrade and contemplating moving to Telkom but not sure.

Just wish to correct you. Vodacom does NOT have 10&20GB bolt on data bundles listed as Mobile Internet/Smartphone data. The largest is 5GB,check their website.
Vodacom does have 10&20GB as "Broadband Data"=Contract Data with or without device and Prepaid Data Once Off or Monthly Reoccurring but NONE on "Mobile Internet" data also known as the "Bolt On" data bundles Once Off or Monthly Reoccurring up to 5GB at present. They appear to have a difficulty in launching the larger ones. Check These Links

Link 2 Contract Broadband Data: http://www.vodacom.co.za/vodacom/shopping/data/data-for-your-tablet-laptop-router-or-dongle
Link 3 Smartphone/Mobile Internet (Bolt On/Add Hoc) NO 10/20GB:http://www.vodacom.co.za/vodacom/shopping/data/data-for-your-smartphone
Link 4 Prepaid Data: http://www.vodacom.co.za/vodacom/shopping/data/prepaid-data
Please correct the news article.

Vodacom is consistently the most expensive which is disappointment considering they do have the best network in South Africa and their UChoose packages are also quite good. (It keeps the OOB shark at bay).

This doesn't seem right:

Package Price All Network Minutes SMS Data (MB)
Vodacom Smart S R209 150 400 400MB

I'm on this package since December and I get 200 MB data. Neither do I get 400 smses. :wtf:

Strangely, the Vodacom website lists one set of benefits on the information page for a plan, while clicking through and selecting a SIM only deal lists a different set of values.

The article has been updated to reflect the values listed at the "checkout" page of SIM only deals.

(For reference: http://www.vodacom.co.za/vodacom/shopping/plans/smart-s vs http://www.vodacom.co.za/vodacom/sh...rd-only/500mb-24-month-data-price-plan/107249)

Your column is not updated to show what shows on that page

Nah. I'd stick to prepaid and skip all the signing

Are the Telkom deals hardcapped or OOBshark material?

Don't know about the recent deals for sure because Tekom while being the cheapest have been learning the bad habits of Vodacom/MTN.

On the 3 differently contracts I have with them they are hardcapped and require you to add a once off bundle to continue. They also have a monthly spend limit that they respect in contrast to Vodacom who don't and come with fine print - in the first few months of a contract etc etc.

With telkom my last months Telkom mobile carry over data bundle gets used first...um but after my current all networks bundle.

With cellc difficulties forcing their hand in increasing costs the others also did so while remaining obscenely profitable. (-TM)

These plans are ideal for personal use but is listed under business on their website

The personal packages which are the Smartplan options offer less value?

Why do they all still offer SMSes? I don't want 300 smses, I'd prefer 600megs though

Only problem with TM is that there network is so limited.
