What's the cheapest/best value wireless printer currently available, low volume maybe 20 pages a month and will only print black and white. There was a similar thread a year or so back and the consensus back then was the small Canon printers for around R500 were the best deal.

Cartridges aren't badly priced either.

R795 is really not bad for a laser printer, what volume can the cartridge print that it comes with?
Same printer is R725 here incl courier:

The one it comes with is about 300 pages, roughly. Just don't leave it too long, I bought a replacement cartridge and I left it in the printer for about 6 months and when I went to print it was buggered.

That's not good news, shouldn't really happen on a laser, I thought toner was way for more stable than ink?

Anyone used the Canon wireless printers that can report on their experiences?

I've actually got one of those as well, it was initially cheap around R400 for the printer. The cartridges aren't expensive, but you tend to use more of them over the same time period if that makes sense?
Though both of my printers have been out of commision since the ceiling fell on them.

The toner would leave lines when printing so I think the toner cartridge broke somehow.

Whats the canon printer model again?

Seems this for R699 is all that is available on Takealot Canon PIXMA TR4540 A4 4-in-1 Wi-Fi Inkjet Printer

Just bought this:

Will give a review in future. Toner is double the price. So I will just replace if the printer is decent.

Is that one wireless?

Also have a pantum p2500w, for +- 2 years now.
It works well for us.

There is also the HP Deskjet 2630 All-in-One Printer for R599:

Inkjet can work but you need to buy one with easy to source "generic" aftermarket cartridges. You also need to print once a week at least.

I have an HP OfficeJet 8100, which cost over R1500 to buy, but I can use R90 cartridges in it that print hundreds of pages.

So my advice is, if you don't buy a laser, then look around the interwebz for easy to buy cartridges. The nice thing about the OfficeJet is that it uses ink tank cartridges, not print head ink cartridges with the print head built in. These cheap inkjets usually have the print head built into the cartridge, that clogs up and dies. Then the generics aren't that cheap either. Refilling sucks and is messy. I would rather buy a full, sealed generic cartridge.

The last HP I had cost R100 to refill the cartridge at the local ink shop, printed perfectly.

I use a Xerox 3010 laser printer not wireless, at esquires a generic Toner(drum) cost R169.00. Great value for money. I get between 1000 and 1500 pages. Before the Xerox I used a Samsung 2165w but Esquires price of the toner when up from R220 to R350 with limited stock. The big difference for me between cheap refill ink cartridges and cheap toner is when the printer rejects(doesn't detected) the ink cartridges vs put the new toner in and take it out when empty.

Is there anything around R600 with Wireless available currently?
I was using a Canon printer I got for free, it just needed a new black cartridge which I duly replaced, it printed 20 odd pages and then the print head died and no amount of cleaning can resurrect it :(
