Cheapish tripod

Yes but the problem is if I don't have a table or a big rock or a car or something the right hight close by the beanbag would not really help me... except if you use it in a way I am not clear on.
There is no perfect tool for this job - at least not in your price range. For long exposures though you want the steadiest you can get and that tripod isnt it.

BTW - always shooting things from head/tripod height can get boring. For example when I photograph kids (or take photos with them in mind) I like to get down to their height.

Yeah I dont like kids, bugs or snakes, thus hip height will do just fine :p:D

Just kidding, I get what you are saying but atm I want/need a tripod that can stand atleast 1.2m tall.

Guess I will have to make one:p

Wonder if I might get some second hand ones.....

Should be R300-400 - I thought that was your range? Or am I under-estimating how much the saffas get shafted for stuff like this?

Yurp :(

If it is 20 odd pound there it will 10-1 be in the R600-R800 price range... I might be wrong though.

Lol, bwana beat me to it and it seems I was on the right track :(

Cheap = wobbly
wobbly = blurry pics ;)

I have an el cheapo Slik 40 which you're welcome to borrow for your trip (I can't lend you my Manfrotto as I use it all the time). Rather keep your Rs in your pocket until you can afford a decent tripod and head.

I tend to be a bit rough on things :o so I will have to decline your generous offer:(
