Hey check this out

You can now check your bandwith usage on IRC, (irc.ethereal.web.za) which is perfect for all the people who have extremly slow HTTP access, people hanging in the iburst channel or just lazy gangsta mother fckers

its very simple really you just type /msg Axsis !usage <username> <password> so lets say your username is bobtheknob and your password is poopoo you can do
/msg Axsis !usage bobtheknob poopoo
OR
/msg Axsis !usage [email protected] poopoo
pretty nifty huh?

oh by the way this bot will do lots of other cool stuff soon too, like announce towers that go up and down and incident reports and probably some other cool ish

type it properly, dont paste it with leading spaces, the first character must be a slash / if theres a space or anythign else before you just send a message to the chan, btw ic if you're the dude i called an idiot just now on irc... i'm sorry :P

its not in the iburst channel, its in another one, you can do it from anywhere on the server, do /whois Axsis
and you can see where she lives

i'm not sure i like the idea of
a) posting my password on an unsecure system such as IRC...then again I do use the iBurst website, so scratch this issue
b) posting my password to a bot someone made. how do i know the bot isn't logging them?

The Bot does not log any details. I created the bot and I am hosting it at Tradepage.(reseller of Iburst).

I have designed it to be easier for me and other users to check there bandwidth on IRC. It will also support the capability of a user registering there nick username /password with it and when u connect to irc it will give you stats.

--- [Axsis] ([email protected]) : TradepageBOT
--- [Axsis] @#tradepage
--- [Axsis] hokage.za.ethereal.web.za :The VI. The determination to never surrender!
--- [Axsis] has identified for this nick
--- [Axsis] idle 00:03:21, signon: Tue Apr 26 23:07:22
--- [Axsis] End of WHOIS list.

I'm just trying to make it that much easier for People on IRC, etc...

Thanks,
Michael

yeah its 100% trust worthy, I trust tradepage people with my details far more than WBS.... also its more secure to do it there with SSL than it is on WBS' website. Lastly, user/pass without a UTID or serial number is useless because iBurst users a 3 key system to prove authentication.

Call me crazy but I will never type my access details into an irc channel.
That's exactly why IRCMonkey asked Slimothy for his password on #iburst last pm - a subtle way of saying that password aint neva gonna be entered like that, and to point out another potential problem [no offence Shunt] but when IRCMonkey did paste from Firefox, there must've been a leading space, which caused the /msg line in its entirety to be displayed as is for all to see, yes ok so IRCMonkey might have been stooopid to not check that, but not stooopid enuf to append the "poopoo" parameter :D.

so private message the bot, also i never said type that in a channel, so if you did then thats something you did on your own. all you need to do is PM the bot, he's in #tradepage if you need to click his name.

It is trustworthy, well I trust tradepage people personally, if you don't think it is... then don't use it, the bot will have other usefull features too later so maybe just use those if you're unsure of IRC or security

Ok, but at the time there was no mention of where/who/what the bot was, but I still have a sceptical question here: how exactly does Tradepage use my WBS username & password to obtain my iBurst usage stats [i.e. what goes on behind the irc bot - cgi?], and how secure is that which goes on behind the bot? - considering that WBS do not use SSL, and that there could be a lot of iBurst customers using the bot itself to get their usage quickly, the bot or what happens behind it would be an ideal weak point to attack & harvest usernames & passwords...? Am I wrong, why?

you are wrong because its using WBS' own authentication system, look if you don't wanna use it dont flipping use it

Look, I'm a sceptic, derail my scepticism with more concrete info, when you say it uses WBS' own authentication, do you mean that the bot runs off an iBurst UT or what......I lost my crystal ball & tarrot cards...you have to fill in the gaps ;).
