I'm buying a second hand Livina, but have the following issues. It was originally sold to me as a Acenta model, it has the correct number of Airbags and electric windows etc. However, it doesn't have the electric mirrors as the acenta does, so I raised this to the salesman, he confirmed with nissan that the model is in fact a visia. But the visia doesn't have ABS or passanger airbags. This model has both. I tested the ABS..

Can I check the true model or something of that sorts online with the VIN number?
 
Go speak very nicely to a Nissan dealer's stock controller. He'll be able to pull up the car's factory invoice on the VIN number, which'll show how the car was sold by Nissan to the original dealer.
 
TransUnion will only reflect the information supplied by the manufacturer. If there was a mistake earlier in the process you wouldn't know it.

Go to the source, or as close to the source as you can get.
 
I wanted to ask the same thing today. I have short listed 6 vehicles of which I will be buying two around the 14th of Dec. All are sold for new i.e. +- 100 to 3,000 km max on the clock. The dealers have supplied me with the VIN numbers for the short listed vehicles. Is there any way to check these and if so is it worthwhile doing so? What will the report tell me other than what I was told by the dealer?

I can understand if buying 2nd-hand and you try to obtain a history but what if you buy new/demo like I'm doing?
 
Go to a different branch, speak nicely to the workshop manger and say you wanted to insure the vehicle but couldn't because of model clarity. Ask him to give you the exact details.
