Check out my first Android app

Father Xmas called, he said you are infringing on some of his patents :)

Care to divulge any details about how you programmed it?... I'm just a little interested in android development of late and want dip my fingers in the pool.... How long did this take you... How easy/difficult was it for you to get the app onto the play store... Etc..

What do you code in at the moment? Will help with decision choosing a platform for Android.

I am a long time C# dev. Prior to that I did C++ and Java. My instinct when starting Android dev was Java and Eclipse. Eclipse is a downright terrible IDE so I moved on to IntellJ. Beautiful IDE to work in.
After using C# for so long I found Java too limiting. So this now became an issue. Say hello MonoDroid. Ended up going full circle and am now coding in C# in VS2010.

Hope that helps your decision somewhat :)

I wrote it using Eclipse and the Android SDK. I played around for a month or two before deciding to write something and stick it in the Android store.

I found the learning curve quiet steep, especially using content providers, but that's my own fault for not reading the documentation properly :) The app took about 24 working hours, including using my limited GIMP knowledge to create those amazing icons :P

The reason it took so long was because I had no plan. I was coding randomly and putting stuff in, then rewriting, removing, adding and generally being random. Once a put a plan in place it was quiet quick.
