@Jan maybe something you guys can look into potentially reporting on.

About a year ago (maybe two by now) the new Checkers Hyper in Brackenfell kitted out their entire roofed parking area with solar panels, basically camouflaging them as the roof tiles so that you pretty much don't even notice. Because of this they operate right through load shedding like it's nothing at all.

This weekend I note they are about to go electric for vehicles, just pending the meters being installed.

Would be nice if it's free topups from the massive solar array.

Progressive thinking. The obv q is when will the charges be installed, it’s speed & lastly how it’s maintained (outside supplier).

I'll certainly keep an eye and report back.

Under those cones is the preparation and base plate for the meters/plug-points so I'm guessing it's just a matter of the supplier coming to complete the rest.

Makes sense with Checkers already running some of their fleet on electric an planning to make the whole lot so.

I must say I remember all the Tesla's flooding the streets when we still lived there a year ago...

Never knew about the solar roof though...that's extremely cool and clever too of course. Well done to them!

Nope, those are wireless charging mats! Welcome to the future, grandpa! /s
That is great, now all that is needed is the EVs. I can see the scooters wars starting.

Edit: Oh I see in the future we will have invisible EVs.

Where is the screenshot from?

How odd, that’s before the renewal two years ago.

They demolished that entire building effectively and started over.

Ja. that parking on the Old Paarl road side was never as big as your pic. Also roads are different.

Glad they upgraded it, it was always a bit dingy.

For some reason I get old google maps. :crying: Although it says 2023.

Question, What will/can you do when a guzzler stops there???

It would be interesting to see them taking it one further and making their Sixty60 fleet electric too.
