The on-demand delivery giant crushing its competition in South Africa

Shoprite Checkers' on-demand delivery service, Sixty60, has expanded significantly since it launched in 2019 and has quickly become the dominant on-demand grocery service in South Africa.

This is shown in the company's financial reporting. Checkers Sixty60's sales grew by 47.1% during the second half of 2024, following growth of 63.1% in the year's first half.

I have about 65 orders from Sixty60, easy and painfree. Their credit system if items are out of stock or missing is excellent and the app is blazing fast on my iPhone 15PM.

My first and last PnP ASAP order they sent me a donut that couldn't be cut with a butter knife.

I see you've not ordered any baked goods from checkers.

Missed opportunity for “smokes”.

Some okes get a woody for that :D

They're also nearly crushing me with their trolleys when they run around the store putting together orders.

A store? Is that like a warehouse that they get their stuff from? They allow people in there?

I wished they shared volume, surely Checkers is doing x50 the amount of deliveries compred to PNP ? The fact that you get the same price as in store (unlike uber eats) and unlimited deliveries for R 99 makes it a no brainer if you are short on time.

There are also many people who do not have cars who benefit greatly from the service

Well, theirs is the only one that works on my devices and from where I'd order.

PnP, no, dirty stinking shop locally. I wouldn't buy dettol from them.
Spar, the app keeps adding a 'reservation fee' to whatever I try to order.
Woolworths, whatever I try to order in the app immediately shows 'out of stock', so can't order anything.

So, if others have similar experience, no wonder Checkers make a killing. It is the only working system.

You get reservation fee back after a few days. Agree though Spar app is kak though, glitches out sometimes and no tracking.

ASAP doesn't work on your device? What device is this?
