How or where do I check if everything is ok with a car?
My elderly mom is buying a second hand car, and it looks ok..I know jack about cars, so pointless opening the hood the only thing I could tell you about the engine is that it is there.
Should I give these guys R100?

her lawyer is doing a quick check that it isnt stolen
mechanically, who knows, it drives fine

1. The link you posted for The Car Market - "This Account Has Been Suspended. Please contact the billing/support department as soon as possible." SO NO. I WOULDNT USE THEM.
2. The AA is the way to go.

Tell the seller you want the car AA checked first before you commit. Tell the seller if the car passes - he can add the cost of the AA test to the selling price. If the car fails he pays for the test.

If the car passes - It will be R800 well spent
If he refuses - walk away. Choose another car.

I advised my girlfriend to take a second hand car that she wants to buy (from a dealership) to AA so a multipoint check and a roadworth check can be done on the car. I'll see if she agress.

there are quick checks yes, but the only way to definitively know if the car is not stolen is to take it for police clearance
