Checking data usage on LTE

A few weeks ago, through the good offices of Ockie, the world of LTE opened up for me. There is, however, one small problem.

I use a ZTE K5008-Z Modem which automatically installs Vodaphone Mobile Broadband software. This software has a facility to check the amount of data still available with a single button click. It is also possible to access firmware on the modem which provides the same facility by entering the URL 192.168.9.1 in a browser.

I doesn't matter whether I use the software or the firmware, with a LTE connection I can't check the data still available. With a 3G connection I can.

Both the software and the firmware display the cumulative total for the data used but my daughter and I share the same data contract so it is important to check the balance fairly regularly to avoid the "out of bundle shark". It's not really a major problem to change connections before and after checking the balance but it shouldn't be necessary. Is there any way to fix this?

Have you tried to register the sim on the Vodacom portal?

Also, we can change it to a top up if you prefer. That way you wont have OOB. When data is done it cuts out until you buy a new data bundle.

It's a thought but I'll stick with the present contract for now. It's not a problem keeping track of usage (even if I do have to change connection speed) and buying extra data through MyVodacom is quite painless.

Do you mean via MyVodacom? I've had a look but I can't find anything there to do this.

Does the sim have to be registered separately for 3G and LTE?
