If I'm on a MTN data contract, how do I check how much of my data bundle is used?

And more importantly, what is the 'age' or latency of this information? I.e. will the system allow me to go out of bundle or will I be able to check how close I am?

Is the usage information real-time or is it 'old'?

While on the point. Is there a way to 'cap' your usage, a bit like a soft-limit to ensure you don't blow the budget on data and is there a notification system if you approach / exceed your bundle?

Sorry for all the questions but I'm petrified to go out of bundle and want to make sure it all works before I commit to a 2 year contract.

Thanks in advance.

I just spoke to the data call desk.

They say that their data usage information is between 12 to 24 hours old.

Can anyone confirm this? In 12 to 24 hours one can download gigs of data.

They also indicated that the bill-lock is also subject to the same 12 to 24 hours delay and that, even if I have a bill-lock, I'm still responsible for any data used over the lock.

Is there a web site you can check your usage?

And I thought Vodacom was bad with a 3 hour delay on data usage information

Good day,

There is about a day delay in the usage on 16202

The best real-time usage is provided on a prepaid SIM (immediately). The bundle rates are the same on prepaid and contract so I suggest you rather use prepaid to control spend to such a fine (real-time) degree.
