Hi,

Not sure if this is place for phone line questions but anyway.. I'm staying in a flat which has a couple of phone jacks installed in the wall but i'm not sure if there's a phone line connected to the flat. No-one I've asked (landlord, agent, etc.) is any the wiser. What would be the easiest way of finding out if there is a phone line connected? (preferably not having to get a Telkom technician to check it out.)

Also I've tried the ADSL Exchange Checker on the Telkom site and it seems to be pretty useless? Tried two phone numbers which have ADSL and it says both exchanges are not ADSL enabled. Is this a temporary or permant problem with the site?

Thanks

One way or another you're probably going to have to call telkom in the end and have them 'install' the line - afaik self-installs require a pre-existing working phone line.
