Back when i was in school, most of what i remember from buying games was me going to the store, checking the system requirements, noticing my PC did not meet them, then putting the game back.

Thankfully since i started earning a salary i have never had to bother checking system requirements again.

What i want to know is, do people still check the system requirements anyway?

the only time i check requirements is when i am going to upgrade and i want to be sure my new system will run whatever game it is i am desperately waiting for to b released

because of console ports, my system pretty much always handles any game thrown at it. and most games can be set to low settings anyway

I definitely do. I don't want to buy something, then it runs badly and they say 'your pc doesn't meet the specs, your bad'.

Case in point: this weekend bought London 2012 and got home, it rendered a frame per second, loaded like 10 minutes.

Took it back, told them my specs, swopped my disc and new one works. If I didn't meet the specs they probably wouldn't have swopped it.

I actually don't remember when last I checked, most of my gaming happens on XBox now anyways... Besides, checking the requirements would just depress me, because I know as a fact my laptop wont meet half of the graphics requirements anymore and there is no chance I can afford a new laptop :D

Used to check religiously though, back in the day, the Half Life days...

I didn't even bother picking up the half life box back when it came out. I just knew it wouldn't run on what i had at the time :p

I don't check system requirements anymore and I have a pretty mid range Pc, not worried about such things anymore, just keep your Pc more or less up to date (upgrade once every 2 years) and you are sorted.
