A question: When you buy a vehicle from a dealer, and they do the roadworthy and licensing for you, do you physically check the VIN and engine numbers of the vehicle when receiving it, and check it against the license papers?

To be 100% Honest.

No.

One should though

I have heard of people that bought cars from "respectable dads" and business men. They failed to check the VIN and engine numbers and later it came out these numbers have been removed...

I have to agree with Pitbull, I have not yet looked at these numbers for any of my cars, but I would definately recommend it as I believe your gut also tells you.. :)

Both VIN and engine numbers are mismatched! I am driving someone else's car around... :p

Have you tried to find out if they are in the clear though ?

Try and find that out first. if they are it's just a day at the traffic department and a Testing station. If one of them are stolen. Take it to the Police and open a case against the person that sold it to you. As you will have some kind of proof that you bought it of him/her.

Waiting, waiting, waiting....

Must be that the dealer is in a holiday mood, and doesn't want to help me!
