how long do cheques take to clear?

Say from Standard bank to my Nedbank account. Personal cheque, not salary. And can i speed up the process?

Normally 7 / 14 working days, and not much as far as i know, absa used to have this express clearing thing , if u had to specify it when cashing, and it cost quiet a bit

Cheque deposits at Nedbank are free (except for credit card accounts). It should take 7 days but can be expediated at a fee.
