Cherry Coke

I just want our Vanilla Coke to return. The one I had in the UK was disgusting and nothing like our old one.

Nope that's how it tasted here too, think your tastebuds have just matured. Both cherry coke and vanilla were horrible.

No way. Most of my family loved Vanilla Coke, and we tried and hated it in the UK during our visit to London. Absolutely nothing like what we used to have, and I'd already heard from friends prior to that that our Vanilla Coke was different to what is imported under the same name.

It took a good second to even tell that you were drinking Vanilla Coke here. It was normal Coke, with a pleasant hint of Vanilla.

Might be the sea air :), but it was horrible up here in Gauteng.

I love this local cherry coke, bought it a few times already

So it's not just your eyes but your tongue too!?

Im actually dont know what to say anymore!

my thought is its a difference between corn syrup vs cane sugar,

so here were we have lots of sugar, they make the sweetened out of cane sugar
and it has one kind of taste....

but in the US and UK they use corn syrup as its cheaper, and has a different taste....

so I wanted to know this cherry coke, is it locally made with cane sugar or corn syrup.

its an honest question....

I reckon it was discontinued because it was cannibalising (the more profitable) normal Coke sales - Vanilla Coke was by far the most popular drink throughout my high school years when it was around. My local Spar also kept a very sizable stock of Vanilla Coke, at least as large but probably bigger than the normal Coke selection.
I think they stopped it, because was not selling. Blacks did not like it and were not buying it. IMHO that is why they stopped it. At the end i don't think matters why they stopped it, the problem is they don't want to start it again.
