Tut tut tut.... is this another South African supporting a foreign team on home soil? Hmmm reminds me of the apartheid years. ;)

Go Chiefs!

Lance! Dude! What a load of crock?
What the hell does supporting a foreign team have to do with the apartheid years?
Seriously?!?! I understand that you're all Pro-SA, but you're off on tangent thats so slanted in nonsense its not even funny bro.

I support ManU, so do countless others - and plenty of people as we all know support foreign teams as the standard of play in this country, is not on par with international football. So? Are we all to be labelled as traitors and supporters of the apartheid regime in your mind?

English football is more popular than local football in the Western Cape. Not sure about the rest of South Africa though.

Shake&Bake: Probably referring to the support of the All Blacks by (mainly) coloureds during the apartheid years. But I agree, what a load of patriotic tinpot rubbish.

Lol Lance!

I support Chiefs! But i also have a special place in my heart for ManU and Barca! But no doubt who I will be supporting today, I would like to moer/ donor ManU just like we did last time! Lol

Yeah, the cheapline (R20 & less) tickets are all sold out, now u have to buy the R250 ones!

Amakhosi4Life, The Glamour Boys, Abafana bok, thula noxolo (love & peace). The Phefeni Boys...

@ Dom - I know of a few coloureds that still support the All Blacks - twats they are in my mind :p Brother-in-law pops into mind. That all said and done - but the all of this patriotism being flooded is bordering on "working on my moer man" :p :D

ManU FTW - won't be down at Newlands, but will be watching the game on TV. :)

U so right Dominic, But Im gonna rock up with my official Amakhosi Jersey, Official Vuvuzela and Huge Flag! Thats me, sucker for The Glamour Boys! I'm so excited I feel like a primary school boy!!

Its club football. Not country football lance. You support the club you wanna support. The club will most often have players from a couple of different countries.

Saying that, I hope for a Chiefs victory, but watching Man U win will also be cool.

Either way Maelly its bound to be great fun! Hopefully no crowd antics! Have fun, be safe and report back! :)

Just heard that one of my colleagues is going down to the game as well.

PROVINCE!!!!!!!!!!!!! :p :D

Sorry I get the whole supporting a foreign team in UEFA, Champions League, Premier League etc etc to a point but I really do not get supporting them when they play against a team that is from the country of your birth! I really do not! You can try and belittle my thoughts but most of you guys have not even been to England so your allegiance is really just based on supporting one of the better teams in the world! Fickle support. I bet the flags come down from the rear view mirror and the scarves get hidden when they do sh_t!

Why not have such strong feelings for Portsmouth or another of the teams lower in the league? Because this is the only reason you support them... if they were cr_p your support would stop. And you call yourself fans!

You are entitled to your views but I could not bring myself to shout for a foreign team over a local team... And yes my reference was to those in the struggle supporting the ABs etc during apartheid.

I hope any of you who are supporting Man U and going to the stadium feel like those guys in the advert showing them arriving at the stadium! That advert sums up how I feel...

You go, man! And I can tell you you will not be alone! :)

And to all of those getting on your high horses, perhaps I hit a nerve as you will see my initial post clearly had a wink after my comments. But I suppose the truth does hurt!

@ Lance.

Why would I want to support a team that does not interest me at all?
I'm a fan of the Springboks and Proteas, because they deliver. Bafana Bafana can go and **** as far as I'm concerned - they have and are to this day, in my fickle mind  - useless. I feel the same way about PSL soccer.

I've supported ManU since my school days and will continue to do so.
I support them because they've always been an exciting team to watch.
Win or lose - its of no concern to me.
I smaak the team stukkend and thats it - my truth.

You contradict yourself here and I think the truth of your support has clearly been reflected by the former statement.... I find this to be true of a lot of supporters of teams like Man U, Chelsea etc...

EDIT : I will be offline in a little while so do not assume I have gone into hiding... I am off to support a team that I will support whether they deliver or not - THE SPRINGBOKS!! And then the Sharks and Chiefs!

Hypocrytical - because the one brews interest and the other not...
I don't put patriotism into my support of sports for this country.
I'm just lucky to be a citizen of a country that has a decent rugby and cricket team. The soccer team fails to impress or warrant my support. Thats all. If they were not worthwhile watching - I would not... be watch.

Enjoy the matches!
