Hey guys,

Whats you configuration for childrens car seats? I have 2 kids, the second just arrived so a newborn and need to work it out

Anybody with a car seat in the front passenger seat?

I believe its frowned upon so just want to check do you guys have both seats at the back - but then how do you/your spouse help the newborn out if they crying or something?

My wife and i can't fit between two seats in the back at least not for long.

Nothing wrong with putting the car seat in the front.

Newborn is always touch n go in a car, whether the seat is left, right, front, back etc.

If the seat is in the front, remember to switch off the airbag. We always turned the stroller-car-seat around so the kid faces the back of the car. Don't skimp on quality of car seats but don't go buying the most expensive thing out there!

Thanks for the feedback, i would consider the newborn in the back - and not the front - so one of us can be at the back too. Although i get why you putting the newbord in the front - their seats can face backwards.

Have you put a toddler in the front - i can put the airbag off - thats not an issue

I have a smaller one for the newborn (was the toddlers a few years back) and a bigger one for the toddler already. With both seats in the back its still very narrow space in the middle.

Its a problem if there is an airbag

You need to disable the airbag if you put the kid seat in front.

Nothing wrong with child seat in front. 99% of cars has an option to disable the air bag. a child under a year and a half should always face the back of the car. when they 2 and older they can face forward.

If you are travelling alone, it is better to have the newborn in the front with you as you can monitor them and they can see you are nearby. The car seat faces backwards and straps in easily with the safety belt.

My daughter started travelling in the back when she was a toddler - bought a larger car seat for her. The car seat just fits better in the back IMHO. She is now at the point where she uses a booster seat so she can choose where she wants to sit. We still keep the airbag switched off when she is in the front, at least until she is a bit older.

Parents in the front, kids in the back...I don't understand the problem.

Teach them independence from the very start and you'll have less issues later.

Never been a problem and mine are 9 and 4 now and still sitting on those booster seats in the back.
