Child drowns in Pond

A seven-year-old girl from Lanseria, north of Johannesburg, drowned in a pond on Tuesday morning, paramedics said.

"Paramedics from two private services arrived on scene and the advanced life support paramedic, who arrived first, immediately initiated resuscitation efforts," said ER24 spokeswoman Vanessa Jackson.

Details of the drowning were still not clear.

"But it is believed that the girl simply fell into the pond which was located a short distance from the house on a plot off Elandsdrift Road in... Lanseria," she said.

The girl's relatives found her in the pond.

The only thing i can think of is she knocked herself out because a 7 year old drowning in a pond seems a bit odd. Well a pond i guess can be pretty big but how deep was this pond? you don't need to know how to swim if you can stand in water. More details are needed this is very odd.

If it was deep enough i guess it is easy to drown when panic sets in and you can't swim but it sounds rather odd. Sounds like some sort of murder cover up but then again i don't know the size of the pond or anything else really. Not often you hear of a 7 year old drowning in a pool, let alone a pond.
