Chilli Pepper Thread

I've been growing some fairly successfully, when the snails can be kept away (they are particularly fond of the chilli plants). Unfortunately, I think I may have to give them up when I move away and start over. All in pots at the moment. If there's any interest, please let me know. I'll only make the final decision on parting with them in January.
I have:
  • cayenne
  • thai red
  • habanero
  • jalapeno
  • medusa
  • paprika
  • something I can't quite remember the name of now...

EDIT: In Cape Town.

Help identify please. Ok so I see chocolate habanero , birds eye and serrano

Left picture, bottom chilli (roundish red one) looks like either a strain of 7-pot brain or else a red habenero. Small chance it could be a Trinidad scorpion. Tricky to tell seeing only one in isolation. If you bought it in Spar or something I'd probably go with habenero.

Trinidad 7 Pot
Bhut Jolokia Brown,

I'm been out of sorts and not prepared yet.

But I guess I have some time until August at least.

Yeah I lost my yellow scorpions last season due to the drought and heatwave. :/ I see one little seedling is coming up now so i'll transplant it this weekend as well.

Do you keep them in pots? Or directly in the garden?

At what size do they go in the garden if you do?

Okay so I would like to grow some chilli myself, question I live on the north coast of KZN, the area I can plant only gets about half a days sun, is that enough?
Is planting anytime in the year ok?
And what is the best species to start off with?

You need to start early august-sep. Depending on your green thumb abilities. Superhots are more challenging to to germinate.

Keep them in pots, but I plan to do one into the garden this year. Cant remember the exact size think they're 25L's? Could be wrong though. I usually just eyeball the stuff.
