Hi there

I'm tring to setup chillispot on my wrt54gl... I've signed up for a free radius server https://radius.chillispot.org/radius/ They sent me an email with a few settings But I dnt think that they've sent me enough info...!

Heres wot they sent me:
chillispot; NAS details: NAS ID: mwip_1 NAS secret: 6crp3wbtvh84ny7nra You use the NAS details for configuring your HotSpot. Your ChilliSpot configuration file in /etc/chilli.conf should contain the following: radiusserver1 rad01.chillispot.org radiusserver2 rad02.chillispot.org radiussecret 6crp3wbtvh84ny7nra radiusnasid mwip_1 dhcpif eth1 uamserver [url said:
https://radius.chillispot.org/hotspotlogin[/url]

As default our radius server is configured to support dynamic
IP addresses and NASes behind NAT gateways. If your
NAS has a public static IP address you should enter this IP
address under system settings in the web interface.
Even when using static IP address both the NAS ID and the
NAS secret must be used by the NAS.

Before you can use your HotSpot you have to log in to
http://radius.chillispot.org and create your first wireless user
]

They didnt however send me the primary radius server IP!!
Is there anything else that I should know?

I thought that chillispot was installed on my router not hdd????

Any help would be great

Thanks

They gave you the hostnames, just ping it !!

It says install chillispot on the radius server so that you get the hotspotlogin.cgi. page.

Which is already done for you on the freeradius server.

Chillispot needs to be installed on the wireless gateway. In this case the Linksys.

Thanks for those links

Does thee free radius come with a database? Because I dnt like mysql at all!!! If I need to setup a database is there anything easyier than mysql?

Thanks

That depends on the RADIUS server configuration. MySQL is one of the backends that can be used for FreeRADIUS.

Just to clarify. The only parts of those howtos you need to look at is the ChilliSpot setup.

Look at the first link I gave you. It is a howto to get Chillispot up and running an a wrt54g. The only difference is that you will only be installing ChilliSpot, not FreeRADIUS and the rest.

EDIT:
The link isn't working for some reason. Try the following Google search: site:chillispot.org chillispot howto linksys

Dude,

If you have DD-wrt installed on the linksys it has already got chilispot installed. check under wireless -> hotspot ( I think ) this is where u put all ur details from the freeradius hosted by chillispot.

The msql database, chillispot backend etc is hosted for you on that site, when u create users , it stores them in the db.

you dont need to install anything exept dd-wrt on the linksys.

hmmm...... who 2 believe! lol

I've found the chillispot setting on dd-wrt ( running linksys wrt54gl )

I've inputted all the settings ( I think )

Chillispot does assign correct ip's
dns is working ( I can ping www.cisco.com)

But I dnt get any login screen or anythin....?

Is this all the setting I need to input?

Is chillispot working now because I can access internet but maybee that is just normal ICS???

Soz if i'm asking noob questions!

Ok

Answered a few of my own questions! lol

But now it says login failed????????
How do I input account details or sumthing...?
From the radius server setup... It asks for my NAS address...wot is that?

The account details go in the RADIUS database, don't know what type administrative control you have over that. Your NAS address is the address of the device doing the AAA against the RADIUS server, in your case your WRT54G.

BTW, didn't know that ChilliSpot was part of dd-wrt. I've setup mine on a normal Linux box. I came across the howto for the WRTG54G while setting mine, never read since it didn't apply to my situation. Just thought it might be usefull to you.

icefire,

Those links did help because it gave me some background information and other settings that are universal for all platforms :)

Ok i've got the NAS settings setup, thanks!!

1)I still havnt figured out how to get individual wifi clients to enter a user name and password...??
2)The client pc's hav full access to the internet and I need to limit that.....is there something that i'm missing or is it my router setup?
3)When I remove the shared key from my router, the client pc's still access the internet..?
4) should I use WPA pre shared key or WPA radius or which 1?

Chillispot obviously isnt forcing clients to authenticate...!

Thanks again!

I'm using UAM and not WPA so I'm not entirely sure what needs to be done. With my setup you can't do anything without authenticating. Unfortunately my server is down at the moment, so I can't take a look at my config. I will get it up and running tomorrow when I'm at work.

You have pointed the uamserver setting to the hotspotlogin script url?

My wifi laptop doesnt have UAM only WEP/WPA?

WHat exactly is the hotspotlogin script url??

i've tried
http://192.168.182.1:3990/prelogin
But nothing happens

I also tried:
https://66.150.225.159/cgi-bin/hotspotlogin.cgi
But it said that I need to login using chillispot daemon...?

What is the Chillispot daemon????

Point the uamserver setting in the ChilliSpot config to: https://radius.chillispot.org/hotspotlogin
Then run: chillispot &

UAM stands for univerisal access method and isn't something that is "supported" by any hardware.

Maybe I should explain how ChilliSpot works. First you need to pull down the LAN interface on the ChilliSpot gateway. Then you start the ChilliSpot daemon. The daemon creates a virtual tun interface which it then bridges with the LAN interface. It then assign a IP from the range you specify to the bridge. The LAN clients can then obtain DHCP leases from the ChilliSpot gateway. The gateway will not allow anyone access to the WAN unless they have authenticated first. A client can authenticated via 2 methods: UAM and WPA; you have to configure ChilliSpot to use one or the other. With UAM, any client connecting to a website will be redirected to the uamserver url, which is the url to the hotspotlogin.cgi script. The client can then enter his username and password and login. After the client has successfully logged in, ChilliSpot will then redirect him back to the site he was trying to access.
