China - Taiwan Developments

What does the people of Taiwan say, are the happy with their current leadership or do they want to be ruled by the CCP?
what they say does not matter AT ALL
just like the people of Donbass had no say AT ALL

if the will of the people justifies the US invasion of China, then it also justifies Russia's invasion of Ukraine

I disagree, the people from Taiwan and Donbass should make these decisions and not Political leaders thousands of miles away.

well ... not sure if you heard ... the people of Donbass did make the decision, there was a referendum and everything ...

CCP is the imposter.
the USA itself formally recognises Taiwan as being part of China
hence sending their military to Taiwan without China's explicit permission makes them an invading force

if they come out and straight up say: "hey we recognise Taiwan's complete independence and will no longer take any of China's concerns into account when dealing with Taiwan"

then it would be different, of course then it would be war though

do as I say, not as I do.

Crimea had a vote where beforehand international bodies were invited but they refused when poll after poll showed that Crimeans were in favour of being part of Russia.
No international inspectors? No legitimacy. How convenient.

These people who pretend like they care about independent voting are liars. They only care about it when it involves a country they don't like.

I wonder how Thailand will view this as they don't really see eye to eye with Cambodia as they have their own territorial disputes with each other. But it seems both nations are really cozying up to China

errr ... you do realise Taiwan and China is the same country right? ... right?

Same answer as with the Nancy Pelosi visit:
If the US really sent soldiers to "China", and if "China" didn't want them there, why didn't their 4 million soldiers do something about it?

Because regardless of what the diplomats won't acknowledge, Taiwan is not China.

Taiwan = not

officially it remains China, and China certainly sees it as strategically important

so ... regardless of what the US says or does when it comes to Taiwan, Taiwan is a redline for China and they will act if it is crossed

they've been making that clear for decades, just like Russia made clear w.r.t. Ukraine
the US called the one bluff only to find out it wasn't a bluff, they're probably likely to do the same with China and learn the same lesson all over again

It's odd how people keep wanting to play this insane game of chicken.

China is obviously going to take Taiwan at some point in some way.... the only hope left is mass evacuation of assets and personnel before that happens.

China says it has started three days of military exercises around Taiwan, in an announcement that comes after the island democracy's president met the US House Speaker in defiance of repeated threats by Beijing.

The Chinese military's Eastern Theater Command announced the drills Saturday, describing them as "a serious warning against the Taiwan separatist forces' collusion with external forces, and a necessary move to defend national sovereignty and territorial integrity."
