China - Taiwan Developments

From Xi's perspective, a Trump presidency would be good. Trump is much easier to manipulate if you feed his ego. This was exactly the reason Putin loved him. Putin who he had a useful idiot he could control.

Biden is bad but at least listens to his advisors who knows more about these issues than either he or Trump.

Totally wrong on all aspects.

Tbh, I don't think Japan and South Korea would be much worse off, they'd be pushed into a situation where they have to warm up more to China though which the US absolutely does not want.

China are evil but a part of me also wants them to tell the West to get the hell out.
This post belongs in the “I hate the west“ thread.

I actually think Trump has the balls to take on China, being a loose cannon and all.

Biden, imho does not know what day it is or when last he took a dump. How can such a man inspire confidence in anyone.

If I was American having to choose between the 2, I would go with Trump all the way.

The fact that this is the best candidates they have is more concerning.
Pff... Trump doesn't even have the balls to stand up to NK. Let alone China.
Biden was asked in his face if he'd use nuclear weapons to defend Taiwan, and he replied that he would without batting an eyelash.

We can talk about who's crazier or shittier all day, but Biden wins the balls game. All Trump has is gall.

Yeah Biden's "balls" have not stopped a war between Russia and Ukraine. Balls. Ha! More like grains of rice.
Russia mocks the US.

Was Biden even aware what was being asked?

I am not a fan of US Imperialism.
But....

The US has been at constant unending war (apart for a few short breaks here and there) since 1776.

China hasn't been at war in decades.

The US is better trained and equipped and has better stratergies than China.

In a conventional war the US is hard to beat.

In a guerilla war, easy to beat, ask Mohammed Farah Aidid, or any Afghan....

Yep. A lot of China's weapons - which look great on paper - will have an acid test of note if they go up against proven US hardware and tactics.

Another critical point you raised is their complete inexperience, right up to the people who will be strategising their war effort. A study on senior PLA leadership found out that the concept of joint arms and operations is not pushed by the PLA. Senior PLA leadership very much stays in its own lane, so army guys don't know too much about air operations, which is not great when air support is invaluable to the success of ground operations. This alone gives the US a huge edge as their understanding of combined arms operations goes right down to the tactical level. US air, naval and ground forces know how they integrate with one another. Another big point that was highlighted is that the importance of logistics has not been ingrained within the PLA. The US has supplied two World Wars and sustained armies halfway across the globe in Iraq and Afghanistan. They know how to move, fuel, feed and supply an army on a massive scale. China doesn't yet appear to place as much importance of this.

The CCP also has a Soviet-era habit of handpicking people to senior positions, and we know how well that went for the Soviets in the early phases of WW2. The most senior layer of the PLA is a political organ - the Central Military Commission - which itself is directly controlled by the Party, and specifically Xi. There is a lot of political meddling in how the PLA operates. Contrast this with the US, where the president takes the advice of the Joints Chief of Staff when making decisions.

Imagine believing the US is going to attack China with nuclear weapons to defend Taiwan
