Hi Guys.

Just want to know if anybody else have experience with the chinese android tablets. I purchased an Ainol Elf a couple of months ago, but used it for all of 2 days before it got nicked from my car. It was excellent but i didnt get a chance to install any apps or really test it properly. That one was almost R1700 from bidorbuy. I'm in the market for another one, but a bit cheaper this time. Any suggestions?

I have the Onda VX610W. A friend bought it for me in China for R650.00. Online you might pay around a grand for it.

It plays HD stuff flawlessly. The screen is not as bright as I would wish (I have a screen protector on it). But everything else works just great.
Battery lasts about three days with moderate use. I have a 32 GB microSD card installed as well.

My wife for bayed me getting one when we were in Dubai 2 years ago. It was only going to cost me about R750... he point was that if it breaks I have no recourse whatsoever in SA.

TBH I should have just got it... If it lasted 6 months it would have been worth it.

Gary, why are there so many tablets with the same or almost similar specs? There are so many different 7" ones!

Theres probably 1 or 2 big factories in China sh/tting out the standard hardware by the millions. The wholesalers just re-package it according to their own specs/names.

Its the exact same thing with most hardware, like screens. I think there are only 3 screen manufacturers in the world, the rest are rebranded.

Yea I get that but There are like a lot of onda 7" ones but they don't seem much different... Just confusing as ****!

I think i gonna bite the bullet again and get another Ainol - saw theres a new one on Bidorbuy - Tornados(???) - guys are getting it on auction for about R1500 more or less. Hopefully i'll try and get it for less. Specs are decent - reviews on internet are pretty good. Will let you know if i manage to get one. Only thing is - no HDMI output :(

LOL

Geezuz gary that thing is cheap, wow looks pretty epic for the price.

It's not a Samsung Galaxy Tablet, but for that price ... who cares.
Kids can play games, I can watch movies, check e-mail and all.
It does pretty much anything else a normal tablet does.
But don't be amazed at the screen quality, it's bearable but not great.
But for that prices I can live with it... hell I can get one for every family member! :D
I guess there are a lot of clones with the same hardware.

Oh, and it comes already rooted, so you can load whatever rom you want on it.
I have downloaded the Ice Cream Sandwich update, just working up the courage to do the update.
