Chinese Visa

Looks like I might be going to China to source some products and make some large purchases. How long does it take to get a visa and what is your experience with them like?

Is the process as lame as getting an American visa?
 
did mine a couple of years ago, from what I recall you just need a letter of invite, complete the forms, submit with passport and done, took a couple of weeks
 
Went last month. Was a pretty painless process. You have a few options. Can be as quick as next day iirc. But will cost more. Usually takes 4 days. Just have all ur docs ready. All the info is available on their website.
 
Painless exercise took me 3 days to get the visa only thing is they give you a deposit slip and you have to deposit R250(i think it was R250) in to their bank but otherwise very very efficient .
Been to china a few times and one thing you will notice about that place is inefficiency like night and day compared to SA .We dont stand a chance against their inefficiency and the shops are open every day no such thing as sunday.

In pta you can do an eft or pay by card. just no cheques i think.

Where in china will you be going?
 
Travel agent did it for me. Took under a week and cost R 250,00. Is valid for 10 years.

Found the Chinese to be the most polite and accommodating people anywhere. Nothing is too much trouble, always polite and cheerful. In Hong Kong everyone speaks English. You must sample some of the really strange foods on offer. Always take a card with you showing the name of your hotel in Chinese characters. If you get lost you can ask someone how to get back. Second-best value for money city after Singapore.
 
A very painless procedure! Went to the consulate in Cape Town to get our things sorted out. I expected all sorts of questions, but none were asked. They also had a very polite security guard on duty.

This is a very very important tip!
 
Very easy, just, if you plan on visiting Hong Kong get a multi entry visa.
